There are times when prostration feels so light upon the earth, the heart embraces peace, prayers flow without pause, and His verses feel so close, gently caressing the soul. Yet, we are not spared from the days when everything feels unbearably heavy.
The Mushaf remains still in its usual corner, yet our hands feel too stiff and powerless to reach for it. The whispers of prayer grow shorter, and the dhikr uttered feels empty, devoid of life. In the silence, we cry out, “Why has my heart been cast so far away?” Even though He has never distanced Himself, not even by an inch.
Often, we are the ones who allow our hearts to dim; overshadowed by the thick fog of exhaustion, the noise of worldly pursuits, sins we forgot to weep for, or fleeting ambitions that suffocate the chest.
In truth, walking back to Him does not always require giant leaps. Sometimes, that longing is remedied simply by opening a single sacred page, whispering one silent word of gratitude, raising our hands for a few seconds before closing our eyes, or slipping a string of istighfar amidst the exhaustion of the world.
Because the journey to the Creator is not about who runs the fastest, but about how often we humble our egos and choose to find our way back home.
If your heart feels distant today, do not give up. Perhaps, He is merely waiting for you to knock on the door of His mercy just once more. Know that He is the One who will never grow tired of embracing a servant who keeps trying to return.
May every page we slowly read, every verse of prayer we weave, and every small step we force ourselves to take with whatever strength remains… one day become a luminous path to knowing Him more deeply, to be completely enveloped by His love.
